Venue

The lectures of the summer school will be held in one of the most iconic location in the city of Ancona. The hall overlooks a breathtaking view overlooking the sea. This fascinating venue has all the latest technology, the latest sound system, and a central Ledwall to enhance all presentations and videosThe conference room will also be equipped with electrified workstations for student laptops.

History of the building

The building that will host the location of the summer school started out as a restaurant, the Passetto restaurant. For most Ancona citizens, this place represents the place of good memories of conviviality with family and friends. Initially, an out-of-town trattoria in the early 20th century, at that time the building had only one floor.

The building as we see it today, with its oval floor plan, was designed after the war by the daring engineer Gino Costanzi and was inaugurated on 14 July 1949. The location on the cliff, the excellent cuisine (up to two Michelin stars), the hospitality and the elegance of the building have made this restaurant a symbol and an attraction for many important people, national and international, who have travelled across Ancona. In 2010 the restaurant was closed and then reopened to a new life. Since 2023 it has been home to ‘Unicorn’, a hub of technological innovation and a meeting place for various start-ups located on the ground floor. The upper floors have remained dedicated to event organisation and hospitality, thus remaining available to the city.
