MAMO – Integrated Metrotram Mobility Sea Mountains

On Thursday, December 11, a public meeting was held at the headquarters of the Province of Fermo to present the pre-feasibility study of the project “MAMO – Integrated Metrotram Mobility Sea Mountains”. The research explores meta-design and landscape strategies for a possible metrotramway route in the Tenna Valley, with the aim of reactivating the historic railway connection between Porto San Giorgio and Amandola and creating a new axis between the coast and inland areas through an integrated system of mobility modes.

The research group Hub for Heritage and Habitat, led by Prof. Gianluigi Mondaini (Director of the DICEA Department, UNIVPM), presented the analyses, scenarios, and opportunities emerging from the study together with its researchers Francesco Chiacchiera, Piero Cantani, and Beatrice Pilota. The discussion was enriched by contributions from mayors of the municipalities involved, local administrators, and territorial experts. The meeting represented an important opportunity for in-depth discussion and dialogue, outlining a shared vision for more sustainable mobility capable of enhancing the value of the territory.

The study was made possible thanks to the strong initiative of the informal committee promoting the “Sea–Mountains Metrotramway,” composed of several associations and institutions active in the Province of Fermo, including the G. Carducci Study Center, the Provincial CNA of Fermo, the Fermo branch of Italia Nostra, and the Legambiente Terramare branch of Fermo. The project was also supported through financial contributions from the Marche Region, the Province of Fermo, and the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Fermo.
