CALL FOR ABSTRACTS: Integrated and Connected Tourism Models to Enhance Border Landscapes: Sharing experiences and addressing future challenges

25 years after the European Landscape Convention, the conference, promoted by CIRP Univpm and UNISCAPE, aims to explore the potential of border landscapes in the search for new ecological, economic, social, and cultural balances.

Landscape is a transdisciplinary theme, a meeting point for different cultures and sensitivities, epochs and heritages, values and meanings that contribute to a global understanding of places as heritage. Landscapes represent both tangible and intangible borders. We aim to explore border places understood as bridges but also as spaces of friction: political boundaries, borders between countries with different languages and cultures, boundaries between different regulations, boundaries between surface and underground, natural events, cities and countryside, and generational boundaries. Margins, borders, and limits require specific attention in order to enhance the values of cultural encounters and diversity. This enhancement can now be pursued through models of sustainable and mindful tourism that strengthen the connection between landscapes and local communities in highly participatory contexts.
