First base-isolated museum display cases tested in Ascoli Piceno

Dynamic characterization tests were carried out on base-isolated museum display cases installed at Palazzo Panichi, home to the State Archaeological Museum of Ascoli Piceno, directed by Dr Sofia Cingolani.

The innovative solution, designed by Eng. Giuseppe Brandimarti of Spes Italia Engineering Srl, provides enhanced protection for our historical and artistic heritage, which includes artefacts ranging from prehistory to the Roman period, with a particular focus on Picene culture.

The study to validate the isolation system was conducted by the Structural Engineering research group of the Department of Civil and Building Engineering and Architecture at the Polytechnic University of Marche, coordinated by Prof. Fabrizio Gara.
More specifically, the team carried out ambient vibration tests, release tests measuring free oscillations, and forced-vibration tests using a mechanical vibration exciter.
