Design Creativity

This research topic approaches the creativity issue in design through a semiotic perspective. Design ideation can be conceived as an act of signifying, a unique and original construction of interpretative codes, made by drawing relationships among objects often belonging to different domains. The relationships define both the design meanings and the structure of the design space. The research investigates the role of the set of precedents used in a design, pointing out how they marks the design cultural dimension: the style, the meaning, the social and the technological values.
